How do I calculate my Course Handicap™ and Playing Handicap™?
A Course Handicap is a number that reflects your potential ability based on your previous rounds of golf. Each golf course has a Course Rating™ and Slope Rating™ that can be found on the course's scorecard or through the National Course Rating Database, HERE.
Your Course Handicap™ is calculated using the following formula, but a mobile app or Course Handicap™ table at the course will do the math for you, as well as using the Course Handicap™ Calculator, HERE:
Course Handicap = Handicap Index® x (Slope Rating™ / 113) + (Course Rating™ – par)
This number is rounded to the nearest whole number when applying net double bogey adjustments. Otherwise, the unrounded result is retained and used to calculate a Playing Handicap.
Playing Handicap = Course Handicap x handicap allowance.
The result is then rounded to the nearest whole number. (Rule 6.1 and 6.2, Rules of Handicapping)
**The system will automatically calculate your Course Handicap™ when you post scores for competitions.
