How do I post a score on GHIN.com or on the GHIN Mobile App?

To post a score on GHIN, log in to GHIN.com or the GHIN mobile app, tap or click POST SCORE, select your course and tees, enter your score, and tap or click Post Score to submit. You must have an active GHIN number through a participating golf club to post a score. GHIN.com or the GHIN mobile app, tap the POST SCORE button, select your course and tees, enter your score, and tap Post Score to submit. You must have an active GHIN profile through a participating golf club to post a score.

If you do not yet have a GHIN digital profile, you must be a member of a golf club that participates in the GHIN Handicap System. Contact your golf club or visit GHIN.com to get started.

Once you log in, you will land on the main screen.

1. On the main screen, you will see your:

  • Name 
  • Home Club  
  • GHIN number/Handicap ID  
  • Current Handicap Index®

2. Tap or click the red POST SCORE button

3. Select your course

  • Type a course name in the search field at the top to find your course 
  • The Recently Played tab displays your most recently played courses 
  • "Nearby" will use your GPS location to show the closest Courses to your location  
4. Select your scoring method.
  • Hole-by-Hole – Enter your gross score for each hole individually. The app applies the Maximum Hole Score (Net Double Bogey) automatically.
  • Hole-by-Hole with Stats – Ideal for tracking detailed performance data such as putts, greens in regulation, and fairway accuracy. 
  • Total Score – Enter your combined gross score for 9 or 18 holes as a single total, without entering individual hole scores.
5. Complete the following fields on the score entry page:
  • Select 18 Holes or 9 Holes 
  • Select Tees 
  • Select Starting Hole if posting Hole-by-Hole 
  • Select Score Type: Home (rounds played at your home club), Away (rounds played at another club), or Competition (tournament or formally organized competitive rounds) 
  • Select Date Played 
    • Today’s date is automatically selected. Post your score on the day of play whenever possible for the most accurate Handicap Index® calculation. If you are posting a score from a previous round, note that backdated scores are accepted but may be flagged for administrative review.
    • Select a different date from the date picker if you are posting a score from a previous round.
  • If posting Hole-By-Hole, start posting your gross score on each hole  
  • While entering hole scores, you can also use the GPS feature to view distances to the green. 
  •  
  • If you selected Hole-by-Hole with Stats, enter the applicable values for each hole: Putts, Greens in Regulation, Fairway Hit, and Fairway Direction. 
  • If you selected Total Score, you can enter your score for each 9 holes separately or as a combined 18-hole total.  

6. Review your score for accuracy before submitting.

7. Tap or click the Post Score button to submit your score. Your Handicap Index® will be recalculated and updated at the next daily revision (typically once per day). Note: Post your score on the day of play whenever possible. Scores submitted after the date of play may be subject to review under World Handicap System (WHS) guidelines.
