I had a recent injury and can no longer play to my handicap. Can the Handicap Committee make an adjustment?

What happens to my Handicap Index if I am injured?

If an injury affects your ability to play to your current Handicap Index®, the Handicap Committee can adjust your Handicap Index to better reflect your current ability and will monitor your scoring record as new scores are posted.

How does the Handicap Committee adjust my Handicap Index after an injury?

If scores posted following an injury indicate that your current Handicap Index® no longer reflects your playing ability, the Handicap Committee is available to make an adjustment on your behalf. Once an adjustment has been made, the Committee will continue to review your scoring record as new scores are posted.

What if my injury causes a permanent change in ability?

If it becomes clear that the injury has resulted in a lasting change in playing ability, the Handicap Committee may exclude scores posted prior to the injury, so that your Handicap Index more accurately reflects your current game.

How will I know if my Handicap Index has been modified?

A Handicap Index that has been modified will be displayed with an “M.” In addition, where a Handicap Committee applied adjustment increases a player's Handicap Index, the Committee should consider resetting the player's Low Handicap Index™ to the same value as the adjusted Handicap Index.
