Why am I seeing an option to join a regional women’s golf association?
Some Arizona women’s golf clubs participate in regional women’s golf associations, sometimes called “mega leagues.” These are optional, statewide organizations that connect players from many local clubs so they can compete and socialize beyond their home course.
In Arizona, the three regional associations are:
- Central Arizona Golf District (CAGD) – Central Arizona
- Southern District Women's Golf Association (SDWGA) – Southern Arizona
- Northern Arizona Women's Golf Association (NAWGA) – Northern Arizona
If your club is located in (or affiliated with) one of these regions, you may see the option to add membership during the join or renewal process.
What does joining one of these associations do?
Joining a regional association is optional and does not replace your club membership. It simply gives you additional opportunities, such as:
- Playing in regional tournaments with members from many different clubs
- Participating in special events like blind-draw competitions
- Access to events held at a variety of courses across the region
- Supporting local golf-related charities and youth programs
Who is eligible?
Generally, you can join if you:
- Are a member of an Arizona Golf Association–sanctioned women’s club or league
- Have an official GHIN handicap
Do I have to join?
No. These associations are completely optional add-ons. If you choose not to join, your club membership and GHIN remain exactly the same, you’ll simply skip the regional events.
